Bloods Crips Book of Knowledge

Real Crips do not represent any 6 point star and are not part of the Folks Nation Alliance. The confusion of Crips representing the Folks Nation's 6 point star started on the internet with unknown persons creating various fictional ‘Bloods Crips Book of Knowledge’ which consist of mixing Crip history and Folks Nation History, symbols, and literature together.

These fictional ‘Blood Piru Knowledge’ spread rapidly throughout the internet and eventually into the streets with want to be taking these books seriously. There is, however, a cease-fire/hood share agreement between Crips and Gangster Disciples that originated in Kansas City Missouri in 1993 called the ‘8 Ball’.

They call it the ‘8 Ball’ because of the shape you get when you merge the "C" hand-sign of the Crips with the ‘Pitch Fork’ hand-sign of the Gangster Disciples, which is how they greet each other. The ‘8 ball’ has nothing to do with Crips being part of the Folks Nation or using any 6 point star, it simply means they have an agreement to share a hood and its resources. All throughout the United States Crip hoods and Gangster Disciple hoods have linked up to form their own ‘8 balls’ and in these hoods you will see both Crip and Gangster Disciple Graffiti and Gang Culture. The ‘8 Ball’ has been known to be ‘cracked’ leaving both gangs to fight a Bloody War for sole control of that hood, but these instances are very rare. The ‘8 ball’ cease-fire agreement may have sparked the idea for someone to create the fictional internet Crips Book of Knowledge.

The Folks Nation

The Folks Nation is a street gang alliance which based out of the Chicago area which has since branched throughout the United States. Within the Folks Nation alliance, there are individual gangs or nations called ‘Mobs’ that all have their own unique colors, hand-signs, and organization. Most of these gangs have signed a charter to join the Folks alliance, many have not.

The Folks Nation was formed on November 11, 1978 in the Illinois Department of Corrections. The leadership of Black Gangster Disciples, Larry Hoover was the first bringing the Folks Nation concept about. The Black Gangster Disciples organized a meeting of several Black, White, and Latino street gangs. Amongst the gangs were the Black Disciples, Spanish Cobras, Imperial Gangsters, Simon City Royals, Latin Eagles, Satan Disciples, and the Latin Disciples.
The term ‘Folks’ was said to be chosen as a moniker because of the word being an acronym, ‘Follow the Orders and Laws the King Sets’.
The ‘King’, Larry Hoover, who apparently had a vision to unite and then control all of the gangs in Chicago. Folks identify to the right side that they wear hats with brim broke to the right, right pant leg rolled up, etc.

The Crips Alliance

Crips is an alliance of individual street organizations known as sets.

The Crips alliance was well established in Los Angeles, California by late 1971. In this same year the Avalon Garden Crips and the Inglewood Crips had joined forces with other Crip sets and began to engage in violent warfare with non-Crip sets. They began to expand to non-Crip set territories controlled by other independent (gangs not in an alliance) gangs.

Each Crip set their own individual gang and are known to have sub-clicks or line-ups that are like smaller individual sets within the set. Gang members in gangs under the Crip alliance are known as Locs and all Crips call each other ‘cuz’ (short for cousin) to signify that they see each other as family.

The gangs under the Crip Alliance are mainly identified by the color blue which is worn proudly by all Crip members as a primary color. Each Crip set has significant differences such as hand signs, use of secondary colors, and customs. The Crip alliance has significantly branched out of California and has spread throughout the majority of the United States.
